Requirements for Participation

  • Have a current Virghinia High School League (VHSL) physical form, dated after May 1, 2024, on file at the school Athletic Trainer - Dr. Brandon Holland.
  • Completed 2024-25 concussion training with certificate of completion on file with the school Athletic Trainer, Dr. B. Holland.
  • Maintain eligibility requirements set forth by VHSL and Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS)
  • Completed PWCS Student Activities Participation Form

Physical Examination - VHSL Sport Physical

Each student is required to have a current VHSL Examination Form on file in the activities office. Please make a copy for your files. The physical must be dated after May 1 of the current school year and will expire on June 30 of the following year. A new physical will be required for each school year. A student may not participate in any way (including tryouts) until they have turned in a completed physical form. Completed paperwork must be dropped off to Dr. Holland at Hylton before the scheduled tryout date.


Concussion Training

All athletes and their parents must complete concussion training. Online training or in-person training is accepted. Additional concussion training information including, the online training link, face-to-face training dates, and more is available on the PWCS Concussion Information webpage. Online concussion training is now done via ParentVUE.  Parental electronic signature is required at the completion of the training. Dr. Holland will be able to view submitted list.


Academic Eligibility

Each student must be enrolled in a minimum of 5 courses to be eligible (inform your counselor when scheduling classes, that you are interested in participating in athletics)

Fall & Winter sports - end of previous year grades apply for fall and winter sports. You must have passed at least 5 classes and earned a “C” or better in at least 2 subjects at the end of the previous school year.

Spring sports - first semester grades apply for spring sports. You must have passed at least 5 classes and earned a “C” or better in at least 2 subjects at the end of the first semester.
